Once a background feature of the glorious English landscape, trees are moving centre stage in the work of a new movement of contemporary British artists who are keenly aware of just how valuable trees are, not only to our enjoyment of life, but to our very survival.
‘The Arborealists’ styles are as diverse as the mighty flora they celebrate, and their paintings will hang next to work by an earlier, mid-20th century painter, David Rolt, who is now being hailed as a “proto-Arborealist”. The contemporaries include Michael Porter, Philippa Beale, Stella Carr, Nahem Shoa, Fiona McIntyre, Tim Craven, Paul Finn and Jacqueline Wedlake Hatton with a guest contribution from a celebrated artist of urban London, Melissa Scott-Miller.’ Robert Eagle.
