Rose Mafrici
Rosemary Mafrici is an accomplished artist with a diverse and unconventional art journey. Immediately after college, Rosemary decided to focus on her preferred mediums of watercolours and oil paints. Her education at Dartington College, where she studied ‘Art and Design in the Social Context’, left a lasting impact on her work, influencing her to frequently create art in community settings, allowing the public to observe her creative process, something she does to this day.
Following her studies, Rosemary engaged in voluntary work at a school in Manchester, collaborating with students on sculptures and murals. Her exceptional work led to an invitation to become the Environmental Artist for Greater Manchester, where she coordinated and contributed to over 50 murals in schools across the region.
In 1986, she established her own studio gallery space at The Forge Bank Waterwheel in Marple Bridge. Her talent as an artist garnered attention, leading her to work as a background artist for television productions such as The Raggy Dolls for Yorkshire Television and Victor and Hugo for Cosgrove Hall.
In 1994, Rosemary returned with her family to the Midlands and she continued to pursue her art career infreelance animation work: creating backgrounds and through private commissions, all while raising a family. Despite the challenges, she completed her degree and a teaching qualification at the Open University and enjoyed a rewarding career in teaching, frequently incorporating mural painting into her teaching activities.
